Copic Markers were developed over 25 years ago in Japan by Too Corporation. They were originally created for Fine Art and design, and then the Japanese comic industry (Manga and Animation) began using Copic products. During the mid 1990s they began to be imported into the US, Canada and Europe where they became very popular in schools and colleges and in the last 3 years the paper craft industry have become very excited at the results they can achieve in scrapbooking and card making.

Copic Alcohol Ink is a permanent dye that adheres to almost any surface, paper, metal, wood and fabric. The pens are non-toxic and do not smear. They are double ended and have a unique brush flexi end and a chisel end. The pen can be refilled (making them environmentally friendly as there is no need to throw the pen away) from the ink bottles that are available in all the 144 colours. New nibs are available for the pens as well as other shaped nibs for Calligraphy etc. You can also airbrush with the pens. Copic Ciao Marker has a child-safe cap perfect for schools. The colour of the pen is easily identified as the caps are the same colour as the pen ink inside. One of Copic pens unique qualities is that the pen is virtually odourless so there is now no problem using them in a classroom full of budding artists or a small room.
COPIC markers are superb for colouring and blending. The colours are smooth, vibrant and when used on the correct paper they blend and are seamless with no hard edges. The colour will not cross-contaminate if you get a dark colour on a light tip. Another advantage of an alcohol pen over a water based pen is that it will not harm the paper fibres and your surface will remain smooth.
