![]() Chris Christoforou is a Co-Founder of The Portrait Guild and the Managing Artistic Director. His experience in this business comes from over 30 years of working in fine art and illustration, publishing, exhibitions, workshops and seminars. He has been handling commissions for artworks and sculptures in all that time and will actively deal with all clients to advise and meet their requirements. Chris is also a sought after artist in his own right and has gained an international reputation for his fine art paintings, where he has sold artworks at Christie’s and Sotheby’s Art Auctions, and at many exhibitions around the UK and in Dubai. He has collectors of his artwork in Britain, America, Canada, Australia, Spain, Qatar and Dubai. Chris has worked with Chromacolour since the invention of the Chroma Artist Colours some 20 odd years ago and is still very committted to promoting the medium he loves the most. Chris says "Chromacolour is one of the most versatile paints I have ever used in my long career as an artist. It will perform to whatever requirements I demand of it, for example when I need a smooth wet in wet watercolour or hard edged acrylic style, this medium is perfect for the job. My work is very demanding in detail and Chromacolour suits this best." |

As I paint in a very traditional style I can build up in very thin glazes to produce clean colours which is brilliant for flesh tones and shadows. also I can use a thickener to build up impasto when required for acrylic and oil style. My subject matter varies from commissioned portraits and pet portraits, to wildlife, flowers, and still life, but what ever the subject, chroma artist colour can deliver. Angela Gaughan.

Dick Twinney
Alongside his more serious work in the wildlife field, Dick loves cartooning and had great success with his 'Know your Dog' series of wall plaques. In fact he still gets regular emails from people trying to locate these and they were done over 25 years ago! He still continues to do cartoons on occasion but these are usually based on his favourite car, the Citroen 2CV and are usually for 2CVGB magazine. In 1990 Dick realised a long-standing ambition by having his own book published by Webb and Bower of Exeter, Devon who had just had huge success with 'Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady'. Titled 'The Painted Seasons' it featured paintings of Cornwall's wildlife and countryside throughout the year and is still available as a third edition. Throughout the 90s he continued to flourish with successful exhibitions at The National Trust's Lanhydrock House and the Chase Art Gallery in Wadebridge. He also enjoys what he calls are his 'laid back' charity exhibitions which are very informal and usually held in local hostelries, combining business with pleasure! In late 1997, after working in watercolour and gouache for so many years he changed mediums and started using Chromacolour which was fairly new at the time. This paint is water-based and is extremely versatile which makes it still suitable for highly detailed book illustrations on art paper but can also be used on canvas and many other surfaces, allowing Dick more freedom to paint larger works. This is something he wanted to do for some time, moving on from the tight restrictions of book illustrating. Recent years have continued to be busy for Dick with the publication of the very successful children’s book 'The Brave Little Owl' which he illustrated entirely. In 2008 Dick secured a weekly feature in the Western Morning News daily newspaper, something he is extremely proud of doing. As he says "This is one of the best things that has happened to my career over recent years. The Western Morning News has been my daily newspaper all my life, as it was also my late father's, so to actually have a regular feature in it is like coming home. All my artwork nowadays is local and confined to the South West so it is such a pleasure to share my passion for this part of the world and its wildlife with local people through my paintings". In 2009 the second book of his nature notes and paintings, From Hedgerow to High Tor - The Wildlife Diary of a Country Artist, was eventually published by Alison Hodge of Penzance. It was supposed to be a follow-up to The Painted Seasons which it was in a way, over twenty years later! However, so as not to leave it so long this time he has gone straight into working on a third book, From Source to Sea - The West country’s Wildlife and Waterways. This will involve many trips out and about the South West, following our rivers from 'Source to Sea' sketching and photographing along the way, as Dick says "The ultimate job!" . |

Darren Green
Over the past few years painting has become a fundamental part of my life, and now takes up much of my spare time. I don't set out to produce art about one subject matter as I like to test out differing skills and techniques. I get great pleasure from watching my work transform from inner vision to outer reality. I use acrylic paint on watercolour board as it is pliable and versatile, giving strong colours to fine washes, adding depth and realism to my work. I aspire to make painting a bigger part of my life and hope that people get as much pleasure from my work as I do creating it. |

Jane Booth
Jane has been painting as a regular pastime for at least 25 years. She first started using water colour, then decided she wanted to paint more detail in her pictures moving onto acrylic where she found the Chromacolour range a perfect match for the effects she was looking to apply. (From there she has not stopped studying and developing her own techniques to produce the amazing detailed paintings she does today.) To date, Jane has received all of her commission work through word of mouth following her debut exhibition in September 2009. The work she showcased there brought an attention to her art that has not ceased. For Commission Enquiries and Sales; Jane Booth Fine Art,

Robert Parkin A nature and folk artist Rob has worked with BBC radio and television on many natural history programs. For over thirty years he has designed and created wildlife and conservation reserves in the UK and Europe. He worked with the late Sir Peter Scott at Slimbridge and undertook the initial design work for the London Wetland Centre. It was Sir Peter Scott who urged Rob to pick up a paintbrush and begin painting again. He was a signature member with Artists for Conservation in Vancouver, Canada. He now works freelance with The National Trust and a number of other conservation and wildlife groups in the UK and western Europe. Rob works in a number of mediums, including graphite and ink. When it comes to painting he say's. "No way could I work without ChromaColour!. It is so strong and so gentle to touch. It's the only paint that I've been happy to get cross with. The reason for that is you can 'work' the paint to do more than any other I have ever worked with".
