Technical Information

ANIMATION PAPER is available in the following four different grades:

ECONOMY GRADE ANIMATION PAPER – is specifically designed for low budget productions and educational use. This paper is a white translucent 60gsm paper that is good for up to 4 levels. It has a nice tooth and good flexibility, which allows good control when flicking.

STANDARD GRADE ANIMATION PAPER – A slightly off white 60gsm paper specially formulated for the animation industry. It is not quite as translucent as the Professional Grade (up to 6 levels on a lightbox) but has similar attributes in terms of tooth, erasures and crispness.

SCANLINE ANIMATION PAPER – A brilliant white 65gsm paper designed specifically for use with scanners and other digital contracts. A crisp, tensile paper with a smooth surface. A smudge resistant paper that allows multiple eraser on the same spot. It is also highly translucent (up to 10 levels on a lightbox).

PROFESSIONAL GRADE ANIMATION PAPER – This is without doubt the best animation paper on the market today, available in both 60gsm and 70gsm. Specially formulated by Chromacolour and made to the highest quality art paper standard. Brilliant white, highly translucent (up to 10 levels on a lightbox) and strong. The surface has just the right tooth, allows multiple erasers and will take most markers with minimum bleed. The crisp but flexible body of the paper also allows good control when flicking.

TRIACETATE is a film that has been manufactured to a water clear photographic quality, with exceptional flat lying properties. Theses features offer superior results, triacetate is available in two thicknesses’ – 100 micron and 125 micron –each sheet is tissue interleaved for protection.

PUNCHING -  all punching is to ACME standard and unless otherwise requested, the material is centre punched on one long edge. Panning paper and cells are continuous punched on one long edge.

FIELD SIZES – the standard field sizes that are most commonly used in the UK and Europe are 12 field and 15 field (12 field and 16 field in the US).
