Kneadable or putty erasers will to some extent remove charcoal, pastel, chalk and soft graphite media with minimal smearing. They can also be shaped to suit the erasing job in hand, being easily fashioned into an edge or a point. They are better suited to a dabbing technique rather than rubbing, which helps avoid damage to the surface of the support, useful in the case of watercolour paper. Putty rubbers need frequent cleaning. |
